Site toilets for civil engineering

Portable toilets for civil engineering

Sewers, foundations, excavation pits: in civil engineering the work moves with the trench, and the toilet has to move with it. Our cabins need no water or power, stand on 1.3 m² and can be lifted to each new section with the crane hook.

What matters

What counts in civil engineering

A civil engineering crew works where nothing exists yet: no water, no power, often no firm ground. The cabin must therefore be self-sufficient, stand safely on soft ground and be easy to relocate when the trench has moved on twenty metres.

For sewer works, earthworks and foundations, long-term rental from four weeks is the right form, with weekly cleaning and week-by-week extension. Tell us where the next section starts and we schedule the move into the service run, or your crew lifts the cabin across with the excavator.

Recommended rental type

Long-term rental, from 4 weeks minimum rental period. Weekly service clean included.

W&W toilet cabins on a construction site: civil engineering

In detail

Six points that make the difference in civil engineering.

01

The cabin moves with the trench

With the crane hook add-on for €6.00 per week net, the excavator or crane lifts the 76 kg cabin to the next section. No waiting for the next service run.

02

Location next to the pit

Level, firm, outside the edge of the slope and outside the slewing range of the excavator. The standard cabin needs only 1.10 × 1.20 metres of floor space.

03

No connections needed

Closed tank system, no water, no power. The cabin stands even where the service connection is still to be built.

04

Hand-wash basin inside the cabin

Civil engineering means soil, mud and concrete. The hand-wash basin add-on for €10.00 per week net brings the washing facility to where the work is, without a separate station.

05

Access in the rain

Our service vehicle must get within seven metres of the cabin, even after a week of rain. A spot by the paved site road is better than one in the spoil heap.

06

Several construction sections

With separate sections, two cabins in two locations are usually better than one large group, otherwise the crews walk across the whole site.

Regulations

What the Workplace Ordinance requires

The Workplace Ordinance (Arbeitsstättenverordnung) applies even on a civil engineering site without any connections: the employer must provide toilets for staff within reach of the workplaces. The technical rule ASR A4.1 "Sanitärräume" (sanitary rooms) describes the requirements for toilets and washing facilities and contains its own provisions for construction sites.

How many cabins are required depends on the number of staff; as a rule of thumb from practice, one cabin per ten people present at the same time. These notes are no substitute for legal advice.

FAQ

Questions about civil engineering

Your question is not listed? Call us, we answer in one sentence instead of a form.

How does the cabin keep up with the trench?

With the crane hook add-on for €6.00 per week net, your crew lifts the cabin to the next section with the excavator or crane. Without a crane hook we relocate the unit on the next service run. In both cases it is important that you tell us the new location so the weekly clean arrives there.

What does a toilet cabin for a civil engineering crew cost per month?

The standard toilet cabin costs €29.50 per week net on a long-term rental, so €118.00 for four weeks including delivery, collection and the weekly service clean. With a hand-wash basin for €10.00 per week it comes to €158.00, with soap and paper towel dispensers for €5.00 per week each €198.00 for four weeks.

What ground does the cabin need next to the excavation pit?

A level, firm spot outside the edge of the slope and outside the slewing range of the excavator. The standard cabin weighs 76 kg empty and needs 1.10 × 1.20 metres of floor space. Our service vehicle must be able to get within seven metres, ideally via the paved site road.

Do we need a separate hand-wash station?

For one crew the hand-wash basin add-on for €10.00 per week net inside the cabin is usually enough. If several crews share the same assembly point, the hand-wash station duo with two wash places is the better solution. It weighs 40 kg, needs no connection and is quick to move.
