Site toilets for road construction

Site toilets for road construction

A road works site sits in the middle of traffic, moves on every few days and stands on land that belongs to the public. We deliver to the approved spot behind the barriers, relocate section by section and clean every week.

What matters

What counts in road construction

In road construction the location is the real issue. The cabin stands on public road land, so within the closed-off works area or in a no-stopping zone set up for the purpose. It must be easy for the crew to reach, must not narrow the carriageway or the pavement, and should be placed so that our service vehicle can stop inside the barriers.

Because the planer, the paver and the roller move on a little every day, the cabin moves with the section. Long-term rental from four weeks covers the construction period, the weekly clean is included, and relocation is settled with a phone call or with the crane hook on the cabin.

Recommended rental type

Long-term rental, from 4 weeks minimum rental period. Weekly service clean included.

W&W toilet cabins on a construction site: road construction

In detail

Six points that make the difference in road construction.

01

Relocation from section to section

With the crane hook add-on for €6.00 per week net, your excavator or loader crane lifts the cabin to the next section. Alternatively we handle the move on the next service run.

02

Location inside the barriers

The cabin belongs inside the closed-off works area or in the no-stopping zone, not on the pavement. The area must be covered by the traffic order for the works.

03

Visibility next to moving traffic

The orange cabin stands behind the beacons and site fence, not as the first obstacle in front of traffic. The door should face the works, not the carriageway.

04

Combination lock against unauthorised use

On busy streets passers-by otherwise use the cabin too. The combination lock add-on costs €2.50 per week net, and only the crew knows the code.

05

Light for night works

Surfacing and asphalt are often laid at night. The light add-on costs €4.00 per week net and needs power at the location, for example from the site distribution board.

06

Seven metres for the service run

Our service vehicle must get within seven metres of the cabin and must be allowed to stop inside the barriers to do so. Plan the location so that this works during the shift as well.

Regulations

What the Workplace Ordinance requires

For a road construction crew the same applies as at any other workplace: under the Workplace Ordinance (Arbeitsstättenverordnung) the employer must provide toilets within reach, and the requirements for toilets and washing facilities are described in the technical rule ASR A4.1 "Sanitärräume" (sanitary rooms), which also contains provisions for construction sites.

If the cabin stands on public road land, the area must be covered by the traffic order for the works or by a special-use permit (Sondernutzungserlaubnis). That is the contractor's job; we deliver to the approved spot. These notes are no substitute for legal advice.

FAQ

Questions about road construction

Your question is not listed? Call us, we answer in one sentence instead of a form.

How often can the cabin be relocated?

As often as the section moves on. With the crane hook add-on for €6.00 per week net your crew moves the cabin itself; without a crane hook we handle it on the next service run. Tell us the new location so the weekly clean arrives there.

Who arranges the spot on the road?

The contractor. The area must be covered by the traffic order for the works or by a special-use permit. We deliver to the approved spot; it must be reachable within seven metres for our service vehicle, and the vehicle must be allowed to stop there briefly.

How do we keep passers-by out of the cabin?

With the combination lock add-on for €2.50 per week net. The crew gets the code, and our service team knows it for the weekly clean. A spot behind the site fence rather than right by the pavement helps as well.

What does the cabin cost for night works?

The standard toilet cabin costs €29.50 per week net on a long-term rental. With light for €4.00 and a combination lock for €2.50 per week it comes to €36.00 per week, so €144.00 for four weeks. Delivery, collection and the weekly clean are included; the light needs power at the location.
