Influencing factors
What determines the price of a portable toilet
Instead of a single figure, it is worth looking at the building blocks that make up every quote.
Anyone renting a portable toilet for the first time understandably looks for quick guidance. The honest answer, however, is that there is no fixed figure that applies to every enquiry, because the conditions differ considerably from project to project. A single cabin for one weekend on private land is a completely different case from several units on a construction site over months, or a cluster of cabins, urinal stands and hand-wash stations at a major event.
Rather than naming a figure that may well not fit your project, we explain here the factors that shape every quote. That helps you judge which decisions shift the effort, and with it the price, in one direction or the other.
The chosen unit
The first building block is the product itself. A standard toilet cabin without water or power connection is leaner in purchase, transport and cleaning than a unit with hand-wash basin, an accessible toilet cabin with ramp and grab rails or a hand-wash station for the catering area. The more comfort and equipment a unit offers, the higher the effort for provision and upkeep tends to be. You will find an overview of the available products on our models page.
Rental period and timing
Whether a toilet stands for a single weekend, several weeks or months on a construction site changes the calculation noticeably. Delivery and collection are incurred with every rental; over longer periods these fixed costs are spread across more days. Timing plays a role too: in periods of high demand, for example during the event season, availability can be tighter than outside those phases.
Service interval and consumables
Every toilet that is set up has to be cleaned and restocked at a certain rhythm. How often that is needed depends on the number of users, the duration of use and the hygiene standard required. A more frequent service interval means more trips and more consumables, and with it more effort. Read more about cleaning intervals in our article “How often is a site toilet cleaned?”.
Location, delivery distance and accessibility
The distance to the site and the accessibility of the area also affect the effort. An easily reachable area with a firm surface can be served more quickly than a location with narrow access routes or difficult terrain. What requirements a site should generally meet is described in the article “Where can a portable toilet be placed?”.
Quantity and combination
- Several units at the same location often share the delivery trip and the service window.
- A combination of cabins, hand-wash stations and urinal stands is guided by the number of users and the type of event.
- How many units make sense depends heavily on the individual case; more on that in the article on working out your needs.
How you get to a figure
A quote is worked out for the project
This information helps us to prepare a reliable quote for you.
- Site and approximate distance to your area
- Desired product or purpose (construction site, event, major event)
- Approximate number of users and rental period
- Special requirements, such as accessibility or hand-washing facilities
Frequently asked questions
Why do you not state any specific prices here?
Because a reliable figure only emerges once the unit, the rental period, the service interval, the location and the delivery distance are known. A blanket figure on a guide page would be wrong in many cases and raise expectations we could not meet in the individual case.
Is a short rental cheaper than a long one?
Not necessarily per day. Delivery and collection are incurred with every rental, regardless of the period. On longer jobs these fixed costs are spread across more days, which often works out cheaper than several short individual bookings.
What does the service interval depend on, and does it affect the price?
The service interval is guided by the number of users, the duration of use and the hygiene standard required. More service visits mean more effort for travel, cleaning and consumables. We agree the interval with you to suit your project.
Does the number of units count linearly in the total price?
The basic rent per unit is one building block, but several units at the same location often share the delivery trip and the service window. Whether that pays off depends on the set-up of your project and is shown transparently in the quote.
How do I get a reliable figure for my project?
Fastest via a short enquiry with the site, approximate number of users, period and desired product. From that we prepare a quote that reflects the actual conditions of your project.
